What changes at Town Hall 10
Two Inferno Towers arrive. In Single-Target mode the beam grows stronger the longer it stays on one troop, which melts Golems, Lava Hounds and Heroes but struggles against swarms. In Multi-Target mode it hits several troops at once with constant damage. You also get a second Bomb Tower, a third X-Bow, a sixth Cannon, a seventh Archer Tower, more traps and 275 Walls.
Offense gains the Miner, who travels underground and ignores Walls, the Bowler, whose boulders bounce to a second target, the Clone Spell and the Bat Spell. Blacksmith 3 adds the Vampstache for the King and Metal Pants for the Minion Prince, and raises Common equipment to level 12 and Epic to 15. Hero Hall 4 adds no new Hero, but raises the caps to 40 for the King and Queen and 20 for the Minion Prince.
Clan Castle level 6 can hold a siege machine donated by clanmates. The Builder's Apprentice (bought with Gems) and the Prospector (a Gold Pass perk) join the Helper Hut. The upgrade to TH10 costs 3,500,000 Gold and takes 3 days, and the boost after it lasts 5 days.
Upgrade priority
TH10 research is long, so the Laboratory should never be idle. Pick one war army and finish it before experimenting with others.
TH10 also brings a new Helper. The Builder's Apprentice can be assigned once a day to speed up a building or Hero upgrade for an hour, so point him at the longest job you have running, usually a Hero.
- Laboratory to level 8, then Hero Hall 4 so the King, Queen and Prince can keep levelling.
- Both Inferno Towers. They are the defenses attackers spend Freeze Spells on.
- Clan Castle level 6 to receive siege machines, and Army Camps for more troop space.
- Your main attack: Miners and Hog Riders for Hybrid, Lava Hounds and Balloons, or Bowlers and Witches.
- Heroes, with one Builder on them whenever Dark Elixir allows, and the Blacksmith to level 3.
- The third X-Bow, second Bomb Tower and the new traps.
- Storages, the remaining defenses and Walls.
How to choose a base at TH10
Your Ranked league floor rises to Barbarian League 4. For war and Ranked, decide the Inferno modes first. Single target is better against LavaLoon tanks and Hero-heavy entries; multi target is better against swarms of Hog Riders, Miners or Bats. Many TH10 war bases run one of each and keep them far enough apart that one Freeze Spell cannot cover both.
Hybrid attacks need to find and survive Giant Bombs, so place pairs of Giant Bombs between defenses on the paths Hog Riders take, and keep a Bomb Tower nearby. Miners ignore Walls, so Walls alone do not protect a core against them; splash defenses and the Inferno Towers do.
Put the Town Hall where it helps the anti-three-star plan, not in a corner. Its high hit points keep attackers busy while X-Bows and Inferno Towers fire.
For Ranked Battles, use the same war base: traps are always armed and your banner Heroes defend even while upgrading. In normal Multiplayer Battles, where your storages can be raided, a farming layout that hides the Dark Elixir Storage and the Town Hall behind the Inferno Towers keeps more of the resources you need for Heroes.
Common attack strategies at TH10
Hybrid, Hog Riders and Miners together, is the standard TH10 ground attack. A Queen Walk or a small group of troops clears one side first, then the Hybrid pack goes in with Healing and Freeze Spells for the Inferno Towers and core.
LavaLoon is still strong. With a Battle Blimp from a clanmate you can carry your Clan Castle troops straight to the core, and Freeze Spells keep the Inferno Towers from shredding Lava Hounds.
Bowlers with Witches, behind a Golem or the King, are a slower smash attack that works well into compact bases. The Clone Spell gives late-game pushes extra Balloons or Hog Riders where the defense is weakest.
If you do not have a siege machine for a ground attack, ask your clan for a Wall Wrecker; for air attacks, a Battle Blimp or Stone Slammer. The level of donated units is limited by your Clan Castle level, so check what your castle allows before you count on a maxed machine.
Farming and resources at TH10
Storages are 14% lootable with a 595,000 cap, and Dark Elixir 5% with a 5,000 cap. The Town Hall holds 1,500,000 Gold and Elixir and 20,000 Dark Elixir. Searching costs 900 Gold per base.
Upgrade costs climb quickly, so farm in normal battles and treat Ranked Battles as a source of trophies, League Bonuses and Star Bonus Ores rather than loot. If you have Builder Base progress, the Multi Mortar there can gear up a level 8 Mortar here once it reaches level 8 at Builder Hall 8.
Mistakes to avoid
- Setting both Inferno Towers to the same mode without a reason.
- Placing the Inferno Towers next to each other, where one Freeze Spell covers both.
- Researching every new troop. Miners, Bowlers and Lava Hounds each need several long Laboratory levels.
- Forgetting to request a siege machine for war attacks. Your Clan Castle can hold one now.
- Leaving the Builder's Apprentice and Lab Assistant idle. Each works one hour a day, and only when you assign them.
- Rushing to TH11 with weak Heroes. The Grand Warden adds a third slot, and you will want all three strong.
