What changes at Town Hall 12
The Town Hall gains the Giga Tesla, which hits several troops at once and explodes with a death bomb when the Town Hall is destroyed. It only wakes when the Town Hall takes damage or the base reaches 51% destruction. Until then, defense-targeting troops such as Giants and Balloons treat the Town Hall as an ordinary building. Since October 2025 the Giga Tesla no longer has separate star levels to upgrade.
The Workshop lets you build your own siege machines: the Wall Wrecker at level 1, the Battle Blimp at level 2 and the Stone Slammer at level 3. Clan Castle level 8 holds 40 troops, two spells and a siege machine. The Yeti, Headhunter and Overgrowth Spell are the other new units, and Blacksmith 5 adds the Healer Puppet for the Queen and Noble Iron for the Minion Prince, with Common equipment up to 15 and Epic up to 18.
Hero Hall 6 raises the caps to 65 for the King and Queen and 40 for the Minion Prince and Grand Warden; there is no new Hero or slot. Defensively you add a third Inferno Tower, a fifth Hidden Tesla and more traps. The upgrade costs 6,000,000 Gold and takes 6 days.
Upgrade priority
The jump in Hero caps from 50 to 65 is the largest of these levels, so Hero upgrades and the Laboratory should run nonstop.
- Laboratory to level 10 and Hero Hall 6.
- Workshop, at least to the level that unlocks the siege machine your main attack needs: the Wall Wrecker for ground, the Battle Blimp or Stone Slammer for air.
- Your main attack in the Laboratory, plus that siege machine.
- Heroes, keeping one Builder on a Dark Elixir Hero and one on the Warden when you can.
- Third Inferno Tower and the Eagle Artillery.
- Clan Castle level 8, Army Camps and the Blacksmith.
- X-Bows, the remaining defenses, traps and Walls.
How to choose a base at TH12
Your Ranked league floor is Archer League 8. The Giga Tesla changes where the Town Hall belongs. In the core, it protects the Eagle Artillery and Inferno Towers and punishes armies that reach the middle; if attackers trigger it early with a spell, defense-targeting troops will path to the Town Hall, so surround it with a single-target Inferno Tower or X-Bows.
Stone Slammer and Battle Blimp attacks fly over the base to drop Clan Castle troops near a target, so do not leave the Eagle Artillery or Town Hall on a straight air line from the edge. For ground attacks with the Wall Wrecker, avoid long walls that lead directly into the core.
For Ranked, use your war layout: traps stay armed, your banner Heroes defend even while upgrading, and you lose no loot.
Against Yeti attacks, splash damage is what clears the Yetimites, which a Yeti releases as it takes damage, so keep Bomb Towers, Wizard Towers and a multi-target Inferno Tower near the core where Yetis end up, and use single-target Infernos and X-Bows on the Yetis themselves. Against Electro Dragons, leave gaps between rows of buildings so the chain lightning has fewer targets to jump to.
Common attack strategies at TH12
Yeti smash, Yetis behind the Wall Wrecker or with a Queen Walk to open the side, is one of the defining TH12 attacks. Yetis release Yetimites when hit, which swarm single-target defenses. LavaLoon with a Stone Slammer is the standard air plan: the Slammer drops boulders on defenses and carries Clan Castle troops to the core.
Hybrid and Electro Dragons stay strong. The Healer Puppet gives the Queen her own Healers, which makes Queen Walks easier to set up.
Plan around the Giga Tesla. A Freeze Spell on it, or keeping the core damage low until your army is ready, avoids having it wake up at the wrong moment.
Headhunters go after enemy Heroes before anything else, which makes them a useful answer to the Hero Banners guarding a core. Bring one or two when you expect the Queen or Warden to defend the Town Hall area.
Farming and resources at TH12
Storages are 14% lootable with a 980,000 cap, and Dark Elixir 5% with a 6,000 cap. The Town Hall still holds the same 2,000,000 Gold and Elixir and 20,000 Dark Elixir as at TH11. Searching costs 1,100 Gold per base.
The Workshop levels cost millions of Elixir, and siege machines themselves are researched with Elixir, so Elixir becomes as tight as Gold. Saving 9,000,000 Gold for the TH13 upgrade takes planning; time it so your Builders finish their last jobs as the Town Hall upgrade completes.
Dark Elixir still funds three Heroes. Raid for it in normal Multiplayer Battles, keep all three Drills upgraded, and spend Ranked Battles chasing Star Bonuses and League Bonuses rather than loot, since defenders there lose nothing.
Mistakes to avoid
- Building every Workshop level at once. Unlock the siege machine your attack uses first.
- Forgetting siege machine research. Siege machines are upgraded in the Laboratory with Elixir, like troops, and a low-level Wall Wrecker or Slammer dies early.
- Triggering the Giga Tesla early by accident with a spell, then losing Balloons to it.
- Leaving the Town Hall in an air line from the edge, where a Stone Slammer can reach it fast.
- Researching the Yeti, Headhunter and siege machines all together while your main army is unfinished.
- Rushing to TH13 with Heroes below 65. Hero levels carry over, and TH13 adds a fourth Hero.
