What changes at Town Hall 6

TH6 doubles up your air defense: a second Air Defense, a second Wizard Tower and the first Air Sweeper, which does no damage but pushes air troops back in the direction it faces. You also get a second Mortar, two more Spring Traps (four in total), the first Giant Bomb and 125 Walls.

On offense, Barracks level 8 unlocks the Healer and Spell Factory level 2 unlocks the Healing Spell. The Clan Castle can reach level 3, which holds 20 housing space of troops, and the Laboratory reaches level 4. The Barbarian King now has his full level 1 stats, but he still only attacks.

TH6 is also where you can repair the boat on the shore and sail to the Builder Base, a second village with its own builders, resources and battles. The upgrade to TH6 costs 500,000 Gold and takes 12 hours, and the Town Hall holds 300,000 Gold and Elixir.

Upgrade priority

Most TH6 upgrades take hours rather than days, so the order matters less than keeping builders busy. The real priority is anything that stops Giant Healer.

  1. Laboratory to level 4, then research your main army.
  2. Build the second Air Defense and upgrade both. Healers have no attack of their own, so Air Defenses are what remove them.
  3. Place the Air Sweeper and the Giant Bomb.
  4. Spell Factory level 2 for Healing, and the Clan Castle to level 3 for more reinforcements.
  5. Wizard Towers and the second Mortar.
  6. Repair the boat and start the Builder Base. Its upgrades use separate resources and builders, so it costs nothing from your Home Village progress.
  7. Storages for the 1,000,000 Gold that TH7 costs, then the remaining defenses and Walls.

How to choose a base at TH6

TH6 is the last level without trophies, so base choice is still about loot and, if your clan wars, stars. Against Giant Healer, place the two Air Defenses so that every likely Giant path stays inside the range of at least one of them; Healers stay behind the Giants, so an Air Defense that only covers the edge of the base will be ignored until it is too late.

The Air Sweeper covers a 90 degree arc in the direction you set, and can be turned in 45 degree steps. Point it at the most open side of the base, usually the side with the fewest air defenses, and keep it inside walls. It slows Healers and Balloons long enough for the Air Defenses and Wizard Towers to finish them.

The Giant Bomb deals heavy splash damage to ground troops. Put it between two defenses in the core, where a group of Giants will walk past, rather than on the outer ring where a single Barbarian sets it off.

Common attack strategies at TH6

Giant Healer is the attack that defines TH6. Giants go in first, the Healers follow behind them once the Giants are taking damage, and Wizards or Archers clear buildings around them. Before you commit the Healers, take out or avoid the Air Defense on that side, because a single Air Defense can kill several Healers in a row.

Balloons are weaker now that every base has two Air Defenses, an Air Sweeper and two Wizard Towers. Use them only when both Air Defenses can be reached early. The Healing Spell keeps a group of Giants or Wizards alive through Mortar and Wizard Tower splash; drop it where the troops will stand, not where they are now.

The Barbarian King with his Barbarian Puppet is a good side distraction that pulls defenses away from your Healers. Keep him on the opposite side from your Giants so the base's defenses split their attention.

Farming and resources at TH6

Storages are still 20% lootable with a 200,000 cap, and collectors still lose half their contents, so collecting often protects most of your income. Searching costs 250 Gold per base.

Saving 1,000,000 Gold for TH7 is the first long save in the game. Put the Gold Storage upgrades ahead of Walls, keep upgrading defenses with Gold as you go, and use Elixir on the Laboratory and army buildings so neither resource sits idle. The Builder Base has its own Builder Gold and Builder Elixir and cannot feed your Home Village.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Grouping both Air Defenses together, which lets one Giant push reach both.
  • Pointing the Air Sweeper toward the middle of your base instead of the side air troops come from.
  • Sending Healers before the Giants have drawn fire. Defenses that target air will shoot them first.
  • Leaving the Builder Base for later. The Master Builder there can later gear up a Home Village Cannon (level 7, the TH6 cap) once his Double Cannon reaches level 4 at Builder Hall 4.
  • Rushing to TH7 with low Air Defenses. TH7 attackers bring Dragons, and the Air Defenses you build here are the ones that face them.
